Technology will serve to deliver information in a variety of new and innovative ways inside and outside the library, taking advantage of the rapid improvements in computers and communications.  The library will achieve a potential that others will strive for.

School Library Mission Statement

To promote life-long learning, the Baxter School District Library will teach students to be effective users of information.  In doing so, students and staff will have access to traditional and emerging technology.  This will allow students the opportunity to discover the joy of reading in multiple formats.
To support this mission, the school library:
  1. Provides intellectual access to information through the development of skills in selecting, retrieving, analyzing, evaluating, synthesizing, and creating information.
  2. Provides all members of the learning community access to a supportive, welcoming and learner-centered environment.
  3. Works in collaboration with teachers, administrators, support staff and parents to provide learning experiences that promote student achievement.
  4. Provides instruction in the skills necessary to use the information resources.
  5. Provides resources and activities that contribute to life-long learning.
  6. Promotes critical thinking, engagement with information in all of its forms and the use of technology to enhance learning.
  7. Contains rich and abundant collections of materials in many formats—both print and electronic—to meet the teaching and learning needs of the school curriculum and reflect diversity and intellectual freedom principles.
  8. To provide learning experiences that encourages users to become discriminating consumers and skilled creators of information. Align the collection with curriculum with emphasis on titles to support reading instruction and classroom collections.
